Vegetable Gardens have been part of garden history for as long as there have been gardens, primarily as a necessity in providing food, but also of huge ornamental value. Groups of plants with interesting foliage, flowers and roots have been mixed into wider planting displays, but also organised into regimental patterns for display.
We’ll cover:
How to plan a simple, productive growing space
What to grow
Preparing soil for healthy, reliable crops
Sowing, planting, and spacing techniques
Basic care: watering, feeding, and maintenance
Simple ways to reduce waste and improve success each season
Using the Vegetable Garden at Blackbrook as a working space we will look at the best way to grow vegetables, keeping them healthy, and producing crops for as long as possible, whilst also looking at the ways that they can be incorporated into the garden.
Lunch included.
